LIFLOR

FAQ

Questions about
Caledonian sandalwood.

How does Caledonian sandalwood differ from Indian sandalwood?

+

Caledonian sandalwood is Santalum austrocaledonicum, endemic to New Caledonia and Vanuatu. Compared to Indian Mysore sandalwood (Santalum album), it has a drier, more mineral profile, less creamy and more structured. It is also available under For Life certification, which Mysore sandalwood is not.

What is For Life certification?

+

For Life is an ECOCERT certification for social responsibility and fair, sustainable sourcing. LIFLOR is the first For Life certified sandalwood on the market and the only certified house in the South Pacific, audited each year.

Is your sandalwood sustainably managed?

+

Yes. We replant three trees for every tree harvested, under mandatory forestry certificate, with a nursery run since 2020 and compliance with the Loyalty Islands Province quotas.

What is the olfactive profile?

+

Dry wood, amber, faintly milky, with a mineral edge and the long persistence valued in base notes. It is more mineral than Mysore sandalwood and more structured than Australian sandalwood.

What packaging and minimum order?

+

We ship worldwide in twenty-kilogram drums by air freight. Minimum order and pricing are confirmed after qualification of your project; please use the quote form.

Can I get samples and GC-MS analyses?

+

Yes. Gas chromatography is run on every batch. Certificates, GC-MS analyses and technical data sheets are shared with qualified buyers on request.

Do you sell to the public?

+

Not at this stage. LIFLOR focuses on B2B sourcing for perfumery and cosmetics houses. A 15 ml retail line may follow later.

Where is LIFLOR located?

+

In the Chépénéhé tribe, Wetr district, on Lifou — the largest of the Loyalty Islands of New Caledonia, in the South Pacific.
