LIFLOR — Sandalwood from LifouLIFLOR — Sandalwood from Lifou
Sandalwood distillery on Lifou — the biomass boiler room

Craft

Slow
hydrodistillation.

From the dry forest to the copper still, every step is documented. Two tonnes of essential oil produced each year, in a distillery running around the clock.

Cycle

48–72 h

Method

Copper, aqueous

Control

GC-MS

Output

2 t / year

The process

Sandalwood powder
Heartwood, ground
01

Harvest

Mature sandalwood is selected and cut under forestry certificate, then carried out of the dry forest by the local teams.

02

Traceability

Every batch is weighed and logged. A traceability certificate follows the material from the tree to the shipment.

03

Grinding

Heartwood is reduced to a fine powder. It is the form that releases the essential oil most completely during distillation.

04

Hydrodistillation

48 to 72 hour cycles in a copper still. A slow, aqueous extraction that preserves the most fragile volatile compounds.

05

Analysis

Gas chromatography on every batch. Lot-by-lot certificates and technical data sheets, shared with perfumers on request.
